The springer spaniel named Leia, who together with her owner was out on a stroll when they came across a porpoise that was stranded on the shore, ends up being the protagonist of this story.

After some time, the dog started to bark, which finally led her owner in the direction of the water. The man decided to find out what was going on by following Leia.

The guy was taking a walk on the beach near to Criccieth, Wales, with his dog, who was two years old at the time, when the animal began behaving in an unruly manner. When he was chasing the dog, Rich saw an animal that seemed to be a dolphin.

Rich thought the animal that washed up on the shore was a dolphin. It was eventually revealed that the aquatic species in question was a baby porpoise.

When Rich approached the little fish, he gently guided it back into the water and helped it go back into its home. The porpoise had some difficulty navigating the waves at first, but as it was submerged in the water, it soon felt at ease.

But, Rich did not instantly leave the beachside location. Along with Leia, he stayed there for more than an hour to make sure that the young porpoise would never have to be stranded there again.

Rich asserts that he rewarded his dog with some extra treats for her courage. According to him, Leia is more clever than the vast bulk of the canine population.
