As the lead star of the “Wizards of Waverly Place” series on Disney Channel, Selena Gomez appeared in 106 episodes over the course of five years and one television movie. She had outgrown her Disney image by the time she became a pop singer and film performer, so she had to leave behind many of the connections she had developed while working on “Waverly Place.” During an appearance on the “Wizards of Waverly Pod” podcast with her old co-stars Jennifer Stone and David DeLuise, Gomez stated that one of the worst errors she’s made in her life was losing contact with her Disney family. In the successful Disney show, Stone portrayed Gomez’s closest friend, while DeLuise played her father. Gomez was played by Selena Gomez.

“I believe that over time, I developed a sense of shame. Gomez shared with her former co-stars on “Waverly Place” that she felt guilty about the choices she had taken in the past. “I didn’t want you guys to see me in the condition that I was in because, A, you would have told me the truth, which scares me, and B, I didn’t want to let you down.” “I didn’t want you guys to see me in the situation that I was in because, A, you would have told me the truth, which terrifies me,”

Gomez is alluding to the difficulties she has had with her mental health, which were made worse in the years after she left Disney due to the increased and excessive public scrutiny that surrounded her personal life. The actress has said that when she began her tenure on “Wizards of Waverly Place,” she never expected to find a second family since she was only 5 years old when her parents separated.

“At first, I was like, ‘Oh, I really don’t want a new family,'” Gomez remarked of her first feelings about the situation. “I had the feeling that I connected with everyone. I had no idea that everything would work out the way it did and that I would end up having everyone I needed in my life. I had the impression that I was safe, which is something that doesn’t come naturally to me at all. I am aware that each and every one of you loves me for who I am. Indeed, there is not… You guys loved me in a real way, and it’s all I could have hoped for; the trust and connection we had that were not conditional is something I miss so much.

Stone responded to Gomez by adding, “I appreciate you expressing that as well.” To put it as bluntly as possible, there have been instances when I’ve found myself wondering, ‘Did we quit being friends because I didn’t give her what she wanted to hear?’ Do you understand what I’m getting at?

Gomez provided a response by stating that “of course, they are all legitimate, and I thank you, people, very much.” “I love you so much in a manner that I’ve never loved anyone else before,” she said. “I’ve never loved anybody else.”

In the not-too-distant future, Gomez is scheduled to make further appearances on the podcast titled “Wizards of Waverly Pod.” Every Monday, the show’s producers release brand-new episodes.
