Simu Liu is dropping hints that he may soon interact with other Marvel stars as they are filming a scene together.
The Shang-Chi actor, who is 33 years old, had a conversation with PEOPLE on Friday evening at the Academy of Motion Arts & Sciences Sci-Tech Awards. During their conversation, he revealed that another Marvel superhero film is on the horizon, and that film will feature his character interacting with other major comic book stars.
Liu has stated that being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an opportunity for her to work alongside someone who, in their own way, is breaking barriers and at the very top of their game. “I’m such a big fan of both the characters and the performers that play them, so any collaboration is an opportunity for me to work alongside someone who,” “I believe that’s what excites me the most as a performer, [and] also as a fan,” she said. “I think that’s what excites me the most.”
He dropped a hint about a possible future superhero team-up by saying, “And who knows, they could see something sooner than you think.” “We’ll see.”
Even while there hasn’t been any official word from Disney or Marvel about a Shang-Chi sequel, Liu will be making a highly anticipated cameo in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which will be released later this year, so fans still have something exciting to look forward to.
He said that working on the set of the Barbie film was an “opportunity” for him since the work was so unlike to what he did in Shang-Chi.
With reference to his role as a lead actor in the next movie, he said that the request to participate is “definitely quite humbling.” “I’m really thrilled to have even been given the chance to play in that sandbox with such wonderful auteurs at every step of the process,” she said. “Playing in that sandbox with such incredible auteurs was a fantastic experience.”
Liu went on to say, “[I’m honored] simply getting to do something entirely different from the Marvel thing and fighting, and letting it be about the dancing, as well as the color, and the brightness of that movie.”
After the release of the film’s first teaser in December, Liu gave an interview in which he discussed his time working on the set of the movie starring Margot Robbie and said that the shoot was “so much fun.”
“The laughter, the dancing, everything that went along with it. It was our routine each and every day at the set. Now that we have finally seen it materialized into a work form, it seems almost unreal since we had the impression that we were enjoying ourselves the entire time “He gave an explanation.
Nonetheless, I’m extremely pleased for more people to see,” Liu said. “Thank you.” “I believe there will be one more trailer that comes out before the movie, but I think it’s fantastic to keep the audience wondering, and I can’t wait for them to see it,” she said. “It’s great to keep the audience guessing, and I can’t wait for them to see.”
The film Barbie will be released in cinemas on July 21.
