While reflecting on his successful career, Jeff Bridges shines a light on the family that has always been there for him.

At the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards, which took place on Sunday, the actor was honored for his lifetime achievements with the Lifetime Achievement Award. His co-star in the film The Big Lebowski, John Goodman, was the one to deliver the award to him.

Bridges, who is 73 years old, revealed during his acceptance speech that he is wearing the cuff links that belonged to his late father, Lloyd Bridges since the day of the award event was also his father’s birthday. The actor passed away in 1998 when he was 85 years old.

“Today, January 15, is the day we celebrate my dad’s birthday. I’m wearing the cuff links that he gave me. Without my father, I never would have made it this far “stated Bridges. “Actually, he’s the one who got me up here in the first place. I remember him enjoying show business and performing so much, and I remember telling my dad when I was a youngster that I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to follow in his footsteps and become an actor. He asks, “What are you talkin’ about?” (What are you talking about?) I responded, ‘I want to do art maybe, music.’ He yelled at Jeff, telling him, “Jeff, you’re being foolish. Because you are an actor, people are going to want you to do all of the things that interest you outside of acting. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to share all of these amazing experiences told from the unique points of view of the individuals who are still living. This is really a beautiful line of work.”

The actor who played The Old Man said, “He’s really correct.” “I’m very happy that I took the advice of the wise old guy!”

Bridges stated that his family has been “so supportive,” also highlighting his mother Dorothy as the “best actor of the bunch,” as well as his siblings Beau and Cindy, as well as his “gorgeous, wonderfully talented” wife Susan: “We’ve been married for 48 years,” he proudly declared as the audience cheered for him. Bridges were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Comedy Series for his role in “The Three Stooges.” In addition to that, he acknowledged their three children, Isabelle, Jessica, and Hayley.

Later on, he elaborated by saying, “Family – that’s sort of what it all boils down to.”

Back in 2014, Bridges discussed the life lessons he had gained from his parents and elaborated on how they had “been excellent models” for him.

“The manner in which my father coped with his celebrity did not strike me as particularly peculiar at the time. He was such a fan of the entertainment industry; he enjoyed [doing interviews] and enjoyed signing autographs “he said such words at the time. “He instructed me in the fundamentals of acting, but the thing that I took away from him that was most valuable was the pleasure that he found in his profession.”

Bridges featured with his father in the film Blown Away in 1994, a moment that he continues to treasure: “I vividly remember when dad first arrived on set; in an authentic manner, he was simply thrilled, and it was infectious to everyone around him. It would go all the way through the neighborhood. Joy brings ease about the way things are, and relaxation about the way things are brings the ability to get out of one’s own way. And in the end, you come out with some solid work.”

Last month, it was revealed by the Critics’ Choice Association that Bridges will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his many accomplishments. In a statement issued at the time, the Chief Executive Officer of the Critics’ Choice Awards (CCA) Joey Berlin stated, “We are happy to be honoring the one and only Jeff Bridges with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the next Critics’ Choice Awards.”

“From his debut with his dad on Sea Hunt to his iconic performance as The Dude in The Big Lebowski, to his Oscar-winning performance in Crazy Heart, and right through his amazing work in The Old Man, his decades-spanning career is unmatched,” Berlin said. ”

Over the course of his career, Bridges has been considered for seven different Academy Award roles, beginning with a nomination for the role of Best Supporting Actor for his work in the 1971 film The Last Picture Show. Bridges have been honored with one Oscar and one Critics’ Choice Award for his work in the film Crazy Heart (2009), for which he was also nominated for an Oscar.

The actor has been recognized during his career with a total of three nominations for the Critics’ Choice Award, including recognition for his work in the films True Grit (2010) and Hell or High Water (2016).
