On “General Hospital,” Carly Corinthos desperately wished to keep her son Michael apart from A.J. Quartermaine, his biological father. Soon after, she met Sonny Corinthos, who after she fell in love with him, consented to adopt Micahel and raise him as his own kid. To safeguard her son, though, substituting an affluent alcoholic for a wealthy mob boss didn’t really help. Without a doubt, the drama in young Michael’s life was a result of his two affluent families.

Dylan Cash, a cute redheaded young actor who portrayed Michael from 2002 to 2008, was undoubtedly a fan favorite, even if actor Chad Duell, who has played Michael since 2010, is now well known as the role. Michael had some of his most challenging experiences at that time as a direct consequence of his father’s unsafe business.

In 2007, while the Text Message Killer was still at large, young Michael obtained a gun illegally to protect his family, according to Soap Central. He thought that was what he needed to do because of the lifestyle he had been exposed to in his early years. However, things became worse when he accidently shot Kate Howard, his father’s lover (then Megan Ward). Kate fully recovered, but Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright), Michael’s parents, were concerned about his increasing interest in a life of crime. As a consequence, Sonny made the decision to “go legal,” and he entrusted leadership of his criminal organization to his right-hand man Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). Sonny made an effort to get away from the gang, but it wasn’t enough to protect his kid.

Sonny Corinthos made the decision to keep his distance from the mafia and focus on his legitimate coffee import business. Sonny wanted to familiarize his kid with the procedure that would eventually be handed down to him, so he took Michael to the coffee warehouse to show him how things were done. But that same night, rival criminal Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Joy Brown, who had previously portrayed Carly) hired killer Ian Devlin (Seamus Dever) to assassinate Sonny. The shooter’s bullet ricocheted off a metal shelf and hit Michael in the skull as a result of his slightly off-target aim.

Michael was quickly rushed to the hospital, but according to Soaps, he fell into a coma not long after. They were terrified when the doctors told his parents and other family members that he would probably be in a vegetative condition forever. Carly and Sonny made the decision to set up Michael’s transfer to the long-term care facility in May 2008. Michael was scheduled to spend over a year there. Eventually, Carly and Sonny’s controversial and experimental technique succeeded in bringing Michael out of his coma. Michael was awoken a year after the incident when Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson) successfully finished the therapy (having been aged into a teenager and then being played by Drew Garrett).

Michael Corinthos was mostly healthy when he came out of his coma, with the exception of a few memory lapses and a few emotional issues, according to Soap Central. One of the memories Michael had forgotten was Claudia Zacchara confessing to the shooting at his hospital bedside. Being that she had just become his new step-mother when he awoke from his coma and they had just begun getting along, this was especially unpleasant. Michael battled much with his just acquired rage, particularly as he began to hold himself responsible for a car accident that caused Claudia to lose her brother.

Some of Michael’s memories from the coma started to return over time. He remembered what she had told him about the incident and approached Claudia. When she didn’t respond well to her, Carly Corinthos Jacks, Michael’s visibly pregnant mother, was taken. When Claudia was about to take Josslyn Jacks, Michael was able to locate the two women and bring them to a desolate cottage. Michael stopped Claudia by grabbing the handle of an ax and striking her in the head.

Michael was subsequently sent to Pentonville jail as a result of this, where he was raped by a guy who had been bribed by one of his father’s enemies. Because of Sonny’s manner of life, Michael evidently had an extremely difficult and traumatic childhood. He could have gained more from being raised by AJ in the end.
