Joanie Simpson is a doting mother to a beautiful canine. Meha is the name she gave to her Yorkie. And for someone who loved dogs as much as Joanie did, the death of her cherished Yorkie was a devastating blow that she was unable to take.

Following the investigation, it was determined that Simpson suffered from an extremely uncommon illness known as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, sometimes known as the broken-heart syndrome. The doctor’s first diagnosis of a heart attack was incorrect since the symptoms were not consistent with that diagnosis. The two conditions have a number of symptoms, but Takotsubo cardiomyopathy manifests itself when patients experience traumatic shifts in their emotional state, such as the death of a loved one or the separation from their children.

One study that was conducted and published in the year 2005 in the New England Journal of Medicine suggests that Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is brought on by an abnormally high level of stress hormones. This causes the heart to be shocked, which in turn causes painful and scary spasms.

At the time when Simpson began taking medicine, she was dealing with a variety of challenges in her life, including the confusing selling of land, her family’s financial troubles, and her own medical concerns. But the idea that she had lost Meha for good was by far the most depressing thing for her to consider.

Simpson had such a deep and abiding affection for Joana that she raised Meha as if she were her own daughter. Simpson was 62 years old at the time, and the fact that the death of her much-loved dog was a contributing factor in her instance of broken-heart syndrome was important to note. She was familiar with the concept of “carer burdens,” which refers to the stress and worry that people feel when they are forced to confront the anguish of losing loved ones.

Simpson has made a full recovery after going through such a challenging period and putting in a lot of work. However, she is required to take medicine for her heart. She has not quite moved on from the loss of her sweet Meha and is not yet prepared to take in another canine companion.
