Since the 1970s, when he first started making appearances in movies, Richard Gere, an American actor, has been considered a leading man in the Hollywood film industry. Gere is one of the most famous actors to ever work in Hollywood. Although the actor is most known for his roles in romantic comedies, he has shown that he has a significant degree of talent. In 2017, Gere gave an interview to the Independent in which he discussed his acting career and how it was always unexpected:
My professional life has never been well planned. I never engineered a career. Simply put, I have never stopped acting in accordance with my own desires. You are limited by the options that are presented to you… But when I look back at the tremendous roster of talented directors, performers, and writers I’ve collaborated with, I have to admit that sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe that I’ve been able to sustain my profession for as long as I have with such wonderful people.
Another thing that could have caught Gere off guard was when he started developing feelings for Silva. Although Gere and Silva did not start dating until 2014, they had known one other for the majority of Silva’s life. When she was a youngster, she had a short encounter with Gere when he borrowed a boat from her father, who was the former Vice President of the Real Madrid Football Club. Gere was a friend of her father. They didn’t run into one other again until 2014, when they were both guests at the hotel that Silva’s family owns and operates.
At the hotel, the pair was re-acquainted with one another by a mutual friend. They hit it off right away, and according to an interview that Silva gave to Hello! Magazine, they’ve been dating ever since they did. “As we stared at each other, we had a profound sense of connectedness,” Silva said. After being engaged, Silva became a Buddhist, and the couple tied the knot on Gere’s ranch in the Hudson Valley, which is located just north of New York City.
Every stage of the couple’s relationship, from the time they went on their first date together until the time they started a family, seemed to have been lifted from from the pages of a romantic book. Gere made his proposal to Silva on the occasion of her birthday at a hotel in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. She told Hello! Magazine that the hotel was the most romantic hotel she had ever gone to, and she added, “I feel emotional just recalling it.”
Gere has a lot of things to say about his wife, despite the fact that Silva has spoken about their relationship more often than he has in the past. Gere described himself as the happiest guy in the world over the course of the same interview. “How could I possibly be otherwise?” Gere stated. “I am married to a beautiful lady who is intelligent, sensitive, devoted to helping others, fun, patient, who understands how to forgive, and who is a superb chef…you can’t get much better than that,” he said. “She is a fantastic cook.”
During the course of the conversation, Silva made a remark about the significant age gap that existed between the pair. Gere is 73 years old, whereas Silva is just 39. In her words:
“In this life, it was bound to turn out this way. He has guaranteed me at least twenty more years of happiness! I feel I must admit that he has a great deal more energy than I do; he is much more active. It is challenging for me to keep up with him. He is not a human being! … The things that have brought us together the most are our devotion to Tibetan culture and Buddhism, as well as our shared goal of assisting those who are in need. And he was able to recognize my unwavering dedication to my work as a humanitarian, as a person, and as a woman… My dream is the happiest and most romantic one I’ve ever experienced. That is why I have made the decision to continue participating in it!
According to E! Online, the adorable couple welcomed a boy into the family in February 2019, and they decided to give him the name Alexander in honor of his mother’s maiden name. Both of his parents already had a kid from a prior relationship when he was born; Silva has a son called Albert from her first marriage, and Gere has a son named Homer from his relationship with model and actress Casey Lowell. The next year, the joyful couple became parents to both of their children for the second time.
Gere is a devoted parent who excels at making certain that his children continue to be the primary focus of his life. “When you put it into perspective with the other things going on in your life, the little stuff simply doesn’t have the same impact on you anymore.
