Usher is explaining the reasoning behind why he does not believe a fight with Verzuz would be worthwhile.
The musician known for his hit “My Boo” made a visit on the People Every Day podcast to discuss his Las Vegas residency up to this point. During his time there, he discussed living in Sin City, how he indulges himself, and disclosed the reason he does not want to participate in a Verzuz combat.
“I don’t even believe a Verzuz could manage all of the songs that I have to be honest,” Usher, 43, told presenter Janine Rubenstein. “I think if you ever came to my concert, you would realize that I don’t even think a Verzuz could handle all of the songs that I have to do.” It’s almost as if I could do it all by myself. But I don’t want to behave in that manner. Verzuz is not intended to be used in a “me against me” fashion.
The speaker went on to say, “But I think it’s amazing. It is wonderful to honor musical accomplishments. However, the first step in developing a respect for it is coming to terms with what it is and how much time it has taken to establish this heritage. And if you do decide to compare it to anything else, what exactly are you comparing it to? You’re comparing it to itself, aren’t you?
During the epidemic, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz came up with the idea for the Verzuz series, which is a competition between virtual DJs. It features up to 20 rounds in which a musician’s popular songs compete against the music of other artists. Each round has a different set of hit songs. On the other hand, when it comes to Usher’s music, there is no competition whatsoever.
“I’m a different beast, guy. I’m obviously not cut from the same fabric as you, guy. And when you put on such music, I swear to you, I don’t believe there is a single person on the face of the earth who would want to smoke with those tunes.
Verzuz presently has two seasons and a total of 43 episodes available for viewing online. Up to this point, the competition has included duels between artists such as Alicia Keys and John Legend, DMX and Snoop Dogg, Ashanti and Keyshia Cole, Bow Wow and Soulja Boy, and many more.
This Thursday, the artist known for his hit song “OMG” made the announcement that he will be extending his residency at the Park MGM in Las Vegas. He added 25 extra dates, with the first one beginning on March 3, 2023 and the last one taking place on July 15, 2023. In light of the news, the singer shared the reasoning for his decision to prolong his residency in Las Vegas as well as the aspects of life there that he cherishes the most.
“Having an audience come to you is always a wonderful experience. The fact that I’ve been able to see such a diverse range of individuals and celebrate the many years that I’ve spent working on my music is one of the things that I cherish the most. But I believe that the fact that it matches my lifestyle is more important than anything else,” he remarked.
He continued by saying, “I’ve been able to still concentrate on the things that I enjoy, things that are creative, things that are sort of supplementary to what I do in music.” Whether it’s in film or rather in production, or working with other artists, I want to continue doing what I love to do while still having time for my family. That thing is performing. Whether it’s in film or rather in production, I want to continue doing it.
During his stay in the city, the celebrity has also been successful in being completely ingrained in the local culture.
“I’m going to try everything there is to try in Vegas. Sadly, I have to state that it is able to suit every aspect of the lifestyle that I lead, including who I am and the things that I like. It may be sitting at the craps table or playing a hand or two of blackjack, or it might be going out to the club for a drink or two, but despite all of that, I still have the opportunity to do all of the other things that I like doing. [Like] indulging on some delicious meal.
He goes on to say that “it’s hot as hell out here, and that’s the one thing that I’ve got to get accustomed to, in addition, it’s really dry.” “But I do, I do give in to temptation and enjoy myself here in Sin City. OK. Not an excessive amount Because I am still obligated to make sure that I appear on stage and have fun while I am there.
