A flight attendant for Virgin Atlantic recently had the opportunity to experience firsthand why this time of year is known as the “season of giving.” Leah Amy, a Virgin stewardess, has worked in a field in which she has had the opportunity to interact with a number of well-known athletes, supermodels, and actors; however, it was an unlikely pair of random passengers who left an impression on her that she will never forget. Amy described how a kind-hearted man had selflessly swapped seats with an older woman so that she could enjoy the comforts of his first-class digs and take advantage of Amy’s declaration that the pair were her two favorite passengers of all time.
Amy shared the uplifting tale on Facebook, writing, “Of the hundreds of flights I’ve handled, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels, and even Hollywood movie stars, but let me tell you about my two favorite customers EVER!” Who are Jack and Violet? (I wish she had been given the name Vera or Rose.) The flight attendant stationed in Manchester revealed how Jack sat in silence in Violet’s economy seat for the whole of the journey after he had given his prime seat to his new buddy who was 88 years old.
The seats were bought by Jack, his family, and his friends. In our business class cabin for a trip departing from New York, but as soon as he boarded the aircraft, Jack proceeded to the economy section, where he met violet, and asked her to switch seats with him. After then, he moved to the row of seats that was located exactly next to the economy toilets and remained there the duration of the trip without making a sound or making any requests. Amy also said that there was “no fuss, no attention,” and that he did it simply out of the goodness of his own heart even though no one asked him to. Before Jack and Violet boarded their flight, the New Zealand Herald reports that they met at the airport and immediately hit it off, forming a relationship.
Amy elaborated on the profound impact that Jack’s act of kindness had on the elderly man’s life. “Violet, who is now 88 years old, has worked as a nurse in both the United Kingdom and the United States. She used to be able to see her daughter in New York, but ever since she had knee replacement surgery, she hasn’t been able to make the trip. Jack made it possible for her to fulfill a lifelong ambition and sit in the first row of the theater “the hostess took notice of it. Violet, who, as you can probably guess, had an experience of a lifetime while traveling in first class and who, according to Amy, was overcome with happiness and excitement the whole time they were in transit.
After dinner, I put her to bed and you should have seen the look on her face as I tucked her in. She said that her daughter would not believe her and that she wanted to take a “selfie” to prove it; however, she did not have a phone or an email account. Amy said, “Can you even survive knowing that these pictures are going to be sent out to you tomorrow?” The message has been shared on Facebook over one and a half times since it was first published on December 10; it has also touched the hearts of countless internet users, who have complimented Jack for his altruistic gesture.
