The act of petting and providing care for a pet is very enjoyable for the animal. But for this Border Collie, who had a challenging beginning to live, being patted felt like nothing more than a pipe dream.
The dog, formerly known as Kong, was mistreated for a whole year while he was housed at a shelter in the city of Claremore, Oklahoma. When the workers at Border Collie Rescue & Rehab in Texas discovered him, he seemed to be in terrible shape. His whole skin was sunburned, and the majority of his fur had fallen out in various spots. In subsequent years, it was revealed that Kong had been suffering from a serious skin illness that had left him unaffected in every way.
Kong was assigned the number #387 on the website of the Border Collie Rescue & Rehab after being taken in by the organization and spent many months getting well.
True love, on the other hand, has nothing to do with circumstances or explanations, much as how Curtis Hartsell didn’t need a label to develop feelings for the smiling white dog. Even though the guy was concerned that his hectic schedule might prevent him from being able to properly care for the dog, he nevertheless decided to follow his instincts and fill out the application form.
According to what he shared with The Dodo, “I browsed through his profile and simply instantly fell in love with his single photo and the explanation they placed on the website.” “After hearing about his disposition and demeanor from his foster mother and a little bit about my life from her, she remarked that it seemed as if we were made for one other.”
The two were able to wait for the day that they could finally meet, which was an emotional milestone in their lives since it was the culmination of a rigorous procedure that included interviews and house visits.
The new owner of Kong decided to give him a new identity and nicknamed him ZIB in the hopes of giving him a clean slate. When Hartsell saw the dog for the very first time, he got the strangest feeling that he and the dog had really been acquainted in the past. ZIB expressed his joy and pleasure by snuggling up to the new father, and others who were there to see it couldn’t help but well up with tears.
“His collar and leash were presented to me.”I went down in front of him, gave him his new name, and asked if he wanted to come home with me,” Hartsell recalled doing at the time. “He said yes.” “ZIB, that’s what I’m going to call you from now on. What do you think about that? ZIB, I was wondering whether you’d be interested in going home with me. He was seated in front of me at the time, and he peered into my eyes before embracing me and bowing his head to me. It was very cute, it is the moment that I will never forget.
“I just do not have the words to express how much more content and pleased I now feel. “It’s amazing knowing that this poor puppy was once abandoned and all he wanted was to be loved — and that I get to show him that love every day now,” the guy said. “It’s great knowing that I get to offer him that love.”
We are overjoyed for ZIB, the little dog who used to be in so much discomfort that he could not tolerate being caressed, but who now can’t get enough hugs and pats on the head.
