Phantom, a 6-month-old young koala who remained at his mother’s side as she had life-saving surgery, captured this moment.

A vehicle collided with the mother koala, Lizzy, who suffered a collapsed lung and facial damage after being struck by a car in Australia.

Due to his early age and the fact that Phantom was unhurt, the staff decided it was appropriate to leave him with his mother.

Phantom sat on his mother’s neck, cradling her and giving her regular cuddles, and it seemed that his embraces were effective.

Phantom is there for Lizzy’s treatments and check-ups to ensure that neither mom nor baby are upset, according to medical workers, as reported by the ABC.

The Phantom is also placed in a ‘pouch’ while weighing in order to ensure that he feels secure and protected when away from his mother.
