Stray animals are sometimes generated by individuals leaving their pets due to financial, space, or just a lack of time constraints on their part.
Stray dogs are a significant issue in Greece, with more than 1 million of them wandering the streets in search of food or a place to sleep each night.
Fortunately, there are some organizations, such as Hott Spott, that are making a difference in the lives of the unfortunate creatures.
Located on the Greek island of Lesbos, it is a conventional café that serves food during the day, but at night, it is transformed into a shelter for stray dogs.
Every night when the pub shuts, the dogs flock to this location to sleep. We are not experiencing any difficulties. A server at the café, who asked to remain nameless, said that since July, there has been a dog sleeping on the sofa every night.
Lesbos is not only dealing with a stray animal issue, but it is also dealing with a refugee crisis. Eustratios Papanis, whose picture of the puppies in the coffeeshop above became viral, had this to say about his work:
The degree of camaraderie among the residents has strengthened in the face of environmental and humanistic concerns. The younger generation is more sensitive and well-informed than their predecessors. ”
