Prince William and Prince Harry have reportedly not spoken in years, and the relationship between William and Meghan Markle is said to be equally strained. According to new claims, William had concerns about Meghan from the beginning and believed she had no real intention of staying within the royal fold even before she married Harry.

When Harry first began dating Meghan, some royal family members were unsure about the match. Though the biography *Finding Freedom* by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand suggested that William and Meghan got along well at first, it also highlighted that Meghan was aware the royal brothers were cautious of women drawn more to their titles than their personalities.

One of Meghan’s friends told the authors she was expecting a tough first meeting with William, but it reportedly went smoothly. William even joked, “I was looking forward to meeting the girl who’s put that silly grin on my brother’s face.”

Still, William expressed concerns about how quickly the relationship was progressing. About a year before Harry and Meghan’s wedding, he advised Harry not to rush things, saying, “Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.” Harry was said to be offended by the comment, particularly by the phrase “this girl,” and felt irritated by William’s caution.

Behind closed doors, William reportedly began questioning Meghan’s motives. According to a source quoted by the *Daily Mail* and *Express*, William suspected she might be more focused on building her personal brand than contributing to the royal family’s mission. However, he kept these doubts to himself, hoping Meghan would be happy and recognizing the difficulty of adjusting to royal life.

Years later, Harry and Meghan have stepped back from their royal roles, and William’s relationship with the couple is all but nonexistent. Royal commentator Phil Dampier recently told *The Sun* that William had always suspected Meghan had alternative plans. Dampier cited a claim from Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson, who had reportedly shared with biographer Sally Bedell Smith that the Queen was uneasy about Meghan joining the family.

Dampier stated, “It confirms what I’ve thought for years—Meghan likely never intended to stay in the royal family. Marrying Harry was a gateway to fame and wealth.” He believes this concern is what caused the brothers’ falling out, adding that hearing such doubts from someone close to the Queen is highly significant.
