One day subsequent to the issuance of an Amber Alert by Milwaukee police for Jamal White, the 7-year-old has been located.
White was “abducted at gunpoint” outside his house at around 7:00 p.m. local time on Friday, July 11, according to a statement from the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) after the purported incident.
On Saturday, July 12, at 6:36 p.m., the MPD reported that White had been safely found, as per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The MPD reported, according to the Journal Sentinel, that Jamal has been found and is safe. “The Milwaukee Police Department expresses gratitude to all for their assistance in this matter.”
A representative for the MPD verified the information in a statement to PEOPLE on Sunday, July 13, indicating that White “was located and is safe.”
A 25-year-old male was apprehended about White’s abduction, according to the MPD spokeswoman, who said that “criminal charges will be submitted to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.”
White, also referred to as “Baby J,” was abducted in a white Jeep Renegade SUV with an unidentified license plate by a Black male assailant wearing a black face mask and a black hooded sweatshirt, according per the warning.
No other information on the purported kidnapping has been disclosed.
Cherica Morrise, who claims to be White’s grandmother, posted on Facebook that he had been located, stating, “Baby J has been found and he’s okay!” One individual has been apprehended. I really appreciate your prayers and support.
Nikki Harrington, White’s cousin, informed the Journal Sentinel that the 7-year-old was sent to a hospital for evaluation.
Harrington informed the Journal Sentinel that she has no knowledge about White’s disappearance and that she and the family are awaiting the police inquiry.
Raven Jackson, a cousin of White, characterized the little boy to the Milwaukee newspaper as a delightful, fun, and captivating child who “just likes being himself.”
Jackson further said that White has a like for cartoons and automobiles, as well as an affinity for music.
