In the fifth season of America’s Got Talent, Jackie Evancho, a classical vocalist, demonstrated her talent. Upon completion of the tournament, she came in second place. Jackie competed once more on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, however she was eliminated in the preliminary round of the competition.
Jackie Evancho claims that the experience of seeing the movie adaptation of “The Phantom of the Opera” when she was only seven years old was the catalyst for her ambition to pursue a career in the performing arts. While we were there, we went to the theater to see it. According to Jackie, who spoke to the Pennsylvania television station WPXI, “It was very, very good.” Even though it was a fairly lengthy film, we were completely captivated by it. The DVD was acquired by her mother, Lisa, and according to the tiny child, something in the soundtrack composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber left a significant effect on her. Despite this, her father, Mike, said that “we really didn’t think [her voice] was anything out of the ordinary” as she sung the melodramatic melodies from the film around the house in her shimmering soprano voice. Since she is our eldest daughter, there were no other children of the same age to provide as a point of comparison.
The night when Mike and Lisa learned that had more than just a “nice” voice is one that they will never forget. During her very first small talent competition, Mike remembers that his parents were invited to see her perform. As soon as she began singing, my parents glanced at one other and said, “What exactly is going on here?” As a result of the response from the audience, we became aware of how exceptional her singing was.
Her two in-person auditions for the fifth season of American Idol took place in Philadelphia, however the producers did not choose her for the show. “I saw a video with Nick Cannon saying that they were also doing auditions on YouTube,” Mike, Jackie’s father, describes his memory of the event. We had the intention of putting anything up, but unfortunately, we forgot about it.
