On Saturday, Michael J. Fox was bestowed with America’s highest civilian distinction as President Joe Biden presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom at a poignant ceremony.

The actor participated in the event at the White House on Saturday, accompanied by many other celebrities and prominent Democrats who were also honored by the 46th president.

Included are Fox’s renowned characters Alex P. Keaton from “Family Ties” and Marty McFly from “Back to the Future.”

Nonetheless, a significant portion of the address was devoted to the star’s unwavering optimism, particularly on his struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Michael received a Parkinson’s diagnosis in the early 1990s and disclosed this information later in the decade during an appearance on “Spin City.”

He has emerged as an activist, fundraising for others afflicted with the condition in recent years, and provided audiences with an intimate glimpse into his life with it in the documentary “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.”

Fox was accompanied onstage by music icon Bono, basketball luminary Magic Johnson, and actor Denzel Washington, all of whom were celebrated for their skills and their advocacy.

President Biden is departing from office later this month, concluding his career by honoring prominent figures in Hollywood.
