The first words that the widow of Johnny Gaudreau has sent out since his terrible loss on Thursday at the hands of a motorist accused of driving under the influence of alcohol are as devastating as they are tragic.

The National Hockey League player and his younger brother, Matthew, were both riding their bicycles when they were struck and murdered, as was previously reported by TMZ. Since that time, the suspect in the case has been charged with the killings of the victims.

There were two heartbreaking messages that Meredith Gaudreau made on social media on Saturday about the passing of her husband. In each of these posts, she described what an incredible husband and father he was.

“I want to express my gratitude for the years that were the most memorable of my life. The fact that I was yours, despite the fact that I no longer have you, makes me the luckiest girl in the world. She accompanied the message with a number of photographs of the happy pair and added, “I love you so, so much.”

“You were flawless in every way. At times, it seemed like it was too wonderful to be true. Everything about you is wonderful, and I adore it. My eternal companion, I can’t wait to be with you once again. You are my forever. I love you so deeply that I will never stop loving you.

In a another post, Meredith referred to Johnny as the “best partner” and characterized him as an incredible father.

The sad tale has several levels of sorrow, and it seems that Matthew’s wife is expecting their first child in just a few months. This is the first child that the pair will have together. Moreover, the sister of the brothers was scheduled to be married on Friday. Since then, it has been put on hold.

They were struck from behind by a drunk motorist, according to the authorities, at around 8:20 p.m. on Thursday. The suspect, Sean Higgins, who is 43 years old, has been taken into custody for his involvement in the collision, and he is now facing two counts of loss by automobile.

In 2005, the defendant was accused with driving while intoxicated in the state of North Carolina; but, according to a local report from station WRAL, the case was dropped since the arresting office did not show up for the court hearing.

He was 31 years old. He was 29 years old.
