Marianna de la Cruz, a mother from Florida, just gave birth to her son Eden on January 4, which also happens to be her wedding anniversary and the birthday of her daughter, who is eight years old.
It is a wonderful coincidence that both her son and her daughter, Jailyn, who is now eight years old, were born earlier than their anticipated due dates. On January 12th, 2016, Jailyn was scheduled to arrive at the location. Instead, she was born a little more than a week earlier than the original timetable.
“It does feel wild to me,” de la Cruz, who is 33 years old and lives in Pompano Beach, says in an interview with PEOPLE. It seems to me that it’s really nice. It’s something I’ve said previously, and I am aware that it has taken place, but it hasn’t really reached me yet. I suppose that when the first birthday arrives [the following year] and I begin to make preparations for a birthday celebration, then maybe it will finally dawn on me that I have a birthday in common with both of my children.
Unfortuitously, Jailyn, who is eight years old, and Eden were both born earlier than their anticipated due dates. On January 12th, 2016, Jailyn was scheduled to arrive at the location. On the contrary, she arrived earlier than expected on January 4th.
This is what de la Cruz, a bookkeeper, remembers of his birthday celebration: “I went to Benihana to have dinner to kind of start celebrating my birthday.” A moment later, when I was sitting on the chair at Benihana, my water broke. Consequently, I went to the hospital immediately after that, and it just so happened that it was about 9:30 p.m., which meant that it kind of carried over to the next day, which was my birthday.

On January 3, this year, a pregnant woman named de la Cruz went to see her physician for a visit. During the course of the consultation, she was instructed to make an appointment for an induction on January 9. It was during the appointment that de la Cruz voiced her worry that she did not feel her kid moving about as much as he normally did. As a result, her physician suggested that de la Cruz attend a hospital in order to be tested.
During the course of the hospital’s examinations, de la Cruz was informed that she would not be discharged from the facility. Her recollection is that she was informed, “You are going to be induced today.” It just so happened that the date was January 3rd.
A another problem to face? On that particular day, De La Cruz went to her doctor’s appointment when she was taking what she believed to be a little vacation from her job. I was able to say, ‘I’ll be right back.’ It takes around fifteen to twenty minutes. “The only thing they do is check your heartbeat and your belly, and other things,” she explains. “And I never came back.”
During the time that she was being induced in the hospital, de la Cruz did consider the idea that her son may be delivered on January 4th. “I was aware that there was a possibility that everything could take place between the time that I arrived at the hospital and midnight, so I said, ‘Perhaps he will be born today.'” Perhaps he will be born on the third of January. She adds, “There is a very small possibility.”
“But once twelve o’clock rolled around, my mother put on the ‘Happy Birthday’ song, and I said, ‘That’s it.'” the mother of three children continues. On January 3, he will not be present. On my birthday, which is January 4th, he will be here.'”
When Eden was born, she weighed 6 pounds and 15 ounces, and she joined her elder sister Jailyn and her brother Crystian, who is 12 years old and also has a birthday that is significant: February 14th. According to de la Cruz, Eden is doing quite well and was discharged from the hospital two days after she was admitted. According to her, “He helps me out by being such a sweet and chill baby,” she said. “He is not a hindrance in any way.”

According to de la Cruz, whenever January 4th came around in the past, she always made sure to center the celebration on her daughter. When asked about her intentions for the next year, she said that she has not yet determined how she would proceed.
It is always my intention to make Jailyn the focus of my attention while I am with her. As a result, I want to continue the tradition in which it is all about her, and I also want to ensure that Eden feels like he is the center of attention on his big day. She goes on to say. In that case, how about two birthday parties, or perhaps three birthday parties? “I am not certain.”
Despite the fact that de la Cruz’s family and friends were previously aware of the fact that she and Jailyn share a birthday, this does not diminish the significance of the occasion for all three of them. Eight years ago, she adds, “It was some cool news,” and she continues. To add insult to injury, now that they are aware of Eden, Jailyn, and me, they think it is just amazing. How unusual is that?
