The birthday party for Jodie Foster featured a heartfelt message from the actress’s wife, Alexandra Hedison.
On Sunday, the Oscar winner turned 61 years old. Hedison, who is 54 years old, posted a picture of Foster smiling while holding a birthday cake on her Instagram account. In the caption, she said, “Loving you is as simple as cake. Best wishes on your birthday, lovely!”
Both Chelsea Handler and Helen Hunt wished Jodie a happy birthday in the area reserved for reader comments. Chelsea Handler wrote, “Happy Birthday, Jodie!!” while Helen Hunt added, “Happy Birthday Jodie!!!!!”
After dating for a year, the Nyad actress and Hedison eventually tied the knot in 2014. They are quite private when they are with people that they do not know, according to a source who spoke to PEOPLE at the time. However, when they are together, it is almost as if they are in a universe of their own.
Hedison has been quite open about her support for her wife, despite the fact that the couple has kept a significant portion of their relationship out of the public eye.
Hedison posted a photograph of herself snapping a picture of Foster on Instagram with the remark, “What happens in quarantine stays in quarantine.” This was done in 2021, when Foster was nominated for a Golden Globe. I am a proud wife each and every day, but today you receive an extra special shout out in the faraway country of Instagram.

Foster showed her appreciation by giving Hedison a kiss during her acceptance speech for the award for best supporting actress, which she was able to do from the comfort of her own home. She also said, “I adore my wife! Please accept my gratitude, Alex, as well as that of her dog Ziggy and of Aaron Rodgers.
The festivities continued the following year in July 2021, when Foster was presented with the Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and the pair made an appearance on the festival’s red carpet together.
