The individual who went through the legal process of changing his name to King of Inkland According to the Daily Star, King Body Art creator and extreme ink-ite Matthew Whelan has around “90% of his body covered in ink.” Whelan was born in Ireland. He is from Birmingham in the United Kingdom and holds the record for having the most tattoos of any male in the country. Additionally, he tattooed both of his eyes. King was nine years old when he had an early interest in tattoos, but he did not get his first tattoo until he was 16 years old.
Because of his time spent in the service, his father displayed a military tattoo at that period. King also had an early understanding of how to appreciate individuals who had altered their bodies since he had relatives in Australia and was able to go to New Zealand, which is home to cultures such as the Maori people who place a high value on their tattoos and other forms of body art.
Sadly, his first experience was not as positive as he had hoped since a number of things went wrong. His tattoo was infected, which caused him to have symptoms similar to those of the flu. He was fortunate enough to get through the ordeal without falling victim to septicemia, a disease that, in extreme situations, may result in death. King said that the event nearly dissuaded him from ever getting another tattoo again, and he recommended that those who are considering getting a tattoo first educate themselves about the art form before proceeding. Surprisingly, the guy with the tattoos did not like any sort of pain, and this included getting tattoos. However, in his defense, he wanted to accomplish what he desired, therefore he had to go through the agony to do it.
King takes pleasure in the fact that he is the center of attention due to the many tattoos that cover his body. On the other hand, it does have certain drawbacks. He explained to the Daily Star how the presence of body art made it difficult for him to get employment.
“By having a distinctive appearance, you subject yourself to the strictest limitations. “That goes beyond people who identify as alternative,” he told the publication.
He said that “basically the reason why you won’t get a job is not that you look totally different, it’s because people won’t give you a job,” and he expressed his opinion that dress rules should be restricted to clothes and not people’s decisions.
When King did ultimately find work, his experiences at the contact center where he was employed were distinct from those of the other employees there. He grumbled about being treated unfairly and remembered an incident in which the managers were there to oversee the establishment and his superior had to conceal him since they were watching.
“This appearance, this extreme alternative look can restrict people and has restricted me in the past, even when I’ve been in employment,” he said and continued, “I got shuffled around from one office to another when I was working in a call centre.”
The guy with the tattoos remembered, “The person they got to move was me,” as he indicated that he had to go from one end of the workplace to the other. “The person they got to move was me,”
Despite this, King’s life has taken on a new purpose as of late since he is now working as an actor. He has already been in a few productions, one of which is the British television show “Doctors.” However, due to the tattoos he has on his body, people often assume that he is a criminal.
The 43-year-old man added, “I’m not gonna pop up in Downton Abbey as an actor, am I?” he was joking. “Unless having an alternative scene or someone’s tripping out or something I suppose.”
