The employees at the Jackson County Animal Shelter (JCAS) have provided care for a great number of pregnant dogs and puppies, but one in particular has lately won their hearts. Kela, an expecting Great Dane mix, gave birth to ten healthy pups while the shelter was taking care of them. While the staff at the shelter saw straight away that she was a caring mother, it wasn’t until she took in an unplanned child that they discovered how exceptional she was.
When Kela arrived to the shelter for the first time, she was already pregnant and rapidly expanding in size. Her friends at JCAS tried their best to make her feel at ease, but due to her stature, this was a more difficult task than it would have been otherwise. One day, they found her laying in a baby pool despite the fact that she was too big to fit in it. As a result, they solicited the assistance of the general public in order to locate a larger pool.

Kela was able to give birth to her children in a tub that had been generously supplied to her by the community in a matter of hours after the community’s lightning-fast response. The animal shelter shared a photo of the adorably happy new family along with a heartfelt note of thanks the day after Kela gave birth to her litter of pups.
“We owe you a tremendous amount of gratitude for the donation of the pool; it came at the perfect time!” JCAS posted something on Facebook.

After a few of days, the shelter published a series of images on their website of Kela enjoying time with her puppies. Even though they had just started spending time together, the new mother showed that she was immediately sensitive to her babies’ need.
Whenever she wasn’t nursing them, Kela’s favorite thing to do was to snooze with her two bundles of joy. Bringing them into the world was a lot of effort, but now that they are here, she may finally take pleasure in the results of her labor.

Almost immediately, Kela developed an unhealthy preoccupation with the cat. After weighing their alternatives, the officials at the shelter came to the conclusion that the cat would be best served by joining Kela’s litter of pups.
JCAS stated that when “we put the kitten in her pool, and only then did she lay back down in the pool with all of her babies,” “Without hesitation, she began to clean him up. It was all her idea, and she was not going to accept any other response but yes.
JCAS is still trying to determine what would be most beneficial for the kitten, but things seem to be going quite well for the little family so far. They have just moved into an incredible foster home together, and the loving mom dog is joyful than she has ever been. The kitten also moved in with them.

The animal shelter is searching for a backup plan in the event that the kitten is finally rejected by her new mom, but up to this point, there hasn’t been an issue with it.
The blended family will continue to grow together for the time being until all of the children are old enough to be adopted. The animal shelter is aware that they still have eight weeks until they have to say goodbye to Kela and all of her puppies, and that the greatest days with them are yet to come.
