Five months after the conclusion of the libel trial that she and ex-husband Johnny Depp were involved in, a source tells PEOPLE that the Aquaman star, 36, “is focused on raising her daughter” Oonagh, who is 18 months old, as they dwell together internationally for the time being.
An insider said that the trial was draining for Heard. “The trial was difficult for her,” the insider said. “She longed for her young kid,” she said.
According to the source, Heard “has spent the previous several months in Europe,” which the actress “loves,” and the location is one in which the actress “can just be a mom there.”
According to the source, “She is completely devoted to raising her daughter.” Amber is a wonderful mother because she takes her daughter out for walks, takes her to parks, and makes sure the two of them have plenty of quality time together.

Even though she did not mention him by name in the article, a jury of seven people decided on June 1 that Heard libeled her ex-husband Johnny Depp, who is now 59 years old, in an opinion piece she wrote in 2018 about domestic abuse. He prevailed in all three of his defamation allegations, and the court awarded him damages totaling more than $10 million. During this time, Heard was successful in one of her three countersuit claims, earning her a $2 million award for damages.
In July, Heard’s plea for a mistrial was turned down by the judge, Penney Azcarate. Later that month, just after Heard formally submitted her petition to appeal the conviction, Depp’s legal team made the announcement that they would also be appealing the verdict of her countersuit.
On Wednesday, his team submitted the document to the Court of Appeals for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In August, a representative for Heard revealed that the actress had switched attorneys to represent her in the appeal. Ben Rottenborn took over as co-counsel, and Elaine Charlson Bredehoft engaged David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown of Ballard Spahr to manage the case. Elaine Charlson Bredehoft resigned from her position.
“When it comes to the protection of the foundational right to freedom of speech, we look at the decision of the jury not “as the beginning of the end, but merely as the end of the beginning,” to rephrase a famous quote. In other words, we do not see this as “the beginning of the end,” but rather “the end of the beginning.” A different court calls for a different representation, especially in light of the abundance of fresh information that has recently come to light “a statement issued by her representative at the time read.
In the meantime, a number of news outlets reported on Thursday that Heard has deleted her account on Twitter because her ex-boyfriend Elon Musk has taken control of the social media platform.
The account of @realamberheard has been deactivated, and it is not clear when it will be reactivated. A screen that says “This account does not exist” has now appeared on the website.
Heard still maintains an Instagram account with 5.3 million followers, and the most recent post on that account is her statement released on June 1 following the judgment in the defamation trial she was involved in with Depp in Virginia.
