Because of his lifelong passion for canines, Hall Watson’s father, Lon, became a volunteer at the neighborhood animal shelter Pound on the Hill. He had been helping abandoned dogs and had been successful in finding homes for most of them. A few strays made their permanent home with Lon and his wife, who took them in. Their home always made space for rescue canines who were in need of a place to stay. At that time, they were taking care of four puppies that belonged to another family.
Not only was he adored by his animal companions, but he also developed special bonds with the canine residents of the neighborhood, including Hooch, Fluffer-Nutter, and Rosie. They did this on a daily basis, but they never spent more than a few moments with Lon there.
