A 15-year-old student suffered serious burns across nearly half of her body after a science experiment went wrong at Greeneview High School in Jamestown, Ohio. The accident happened during a classroom activity involving an ethanol-based chemical, which unexpectedly ignited and caused an explosion-like incident.

Emergency crews evacuated the school after the fire alarms went off. Fire Chief Steve Payton said the exact cause is still unclear, but something during the experiment “got out of hand.” The teenager, identified as Chloe Walker, sustained major burns, including injuries to her face and mouth, and experienced breathing complications.

Chloe was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, where she was listed in critical condition. According to a GoFundMe page created to help her family, she suffered burns on more than 40% of her body and faces a difficult recovery process both physically and emotionally.

Two additional students were also affected during the incident. One suffered minor burns, while another experienced a panic attack. Greeneview Local Schools confirmed that the fire occurred in a science classroom and that students received medical treatment afterward.

In response to the tragedy, the local community has rallied around Chloe and her family. Fundraisers, donation drives, and community events have raised thousands of dollars to support medical expenses. Local businesses, churches, and residents have also contributed gift cards, care packages, and even hair donations to help create a wig for Chloe if needed.
