Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s Today show, is facing a deeply personal crisis after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing from her Arizona home. The 84-year-old was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday, January 31, and her most recent Facebook post dates back to January 27. Savannah did not appear on Monday’s broadcast as the news emerged.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed the situation during a press conference on Sunday, February 1, confirming that extensive search efforts are underway. Search and rescue teams have been deployed both on the ground and by air, and investigators from the homicide unit are also assisting.

“We’re using every resource available,” Sheriff Nanos said, noting that Nancy Guthrie’s age and health status make the situation especially urgent. He added that authorities are concerned about findings at the home and emphasized the seriousness of the investigation.

The Today show acknowledged the situation at the beginning of Monday’s episode. Anchor Craig Melvin told viewers that Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s “beloved mother,” had been reported missing only hours earlier.

Later, Savannah Guthrie released a statement through the Today show, thanking the public for their support. “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support,” she said. “Our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.” She also expressed gratitude to law enforcement and urged anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.
