Barron Trump has largely stayed out of public view in recent years. Although he has returned to living at the White House, the 19-year-old has rarely been seen alongside his parents, Donald and Melania Trump.
That changed on New Year’s Eve, when Barron was briefly caught on camera. Unfortunately, his appearance sparked mixed reactions online, including the revival of a long-standing and unfounded paternity conspiracy theory.
Barron, who transferred from NYU’s Stern School of Business in New York City to its Washington, D.C. campus at the start of his sophomore year, last drew widespread attention during his father’s inauguration a year ago. Since then, he has kept a low profile.
On New Year’s Eve, however, Donald, Melania, and Barron Trump were seen celebrating at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, alongside other family members. A video circulating on social media shows Barron standing near his parents as guests danced nearby.
In the past, online discussion about Barron has largely focused on his height. This time, viewers reacted to what they described as his stiff or uncomfortable demeanor. In the video, a woman appears to encourage him to dance, but he does not respond.
The clip prompted a wave of commentary, with some users expressing sympathy and others making jokes. Comments ranged from suggesting he looked bored or eager to leave, to questioning whether he felt out of place at the event.
Amid these reactions, an old and bizarre conspiracy theory resurfaced. Some social media users once again falsely claimed that Donald Trump is not Barron’s biological father, instead alleging—without evidence—that he is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The theory, which has circulated online for years, gained renewed attention following the New Year’s footage, with commenters comparing Barron’s appearance to Trudeau’s. Despite the renewed chatter, the claim remains entirely speculative and unsupported.
