Actor Tommy Lee Jones is grieving the sudden death of his daughter, Victoria Jones, who died at the age of 34 after being found unresponsive at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco on New Year’s Day.
Authorities report that Victoria experienced a medical emergency. While no foul play is suspected, her official cause of death has not yet been determined.
According to reports from TMZ, Victoria was discovered on the 14th floor of the hotel on the morning of January 1 by another guest, who initially believed she was asleep or intoxicated. The Daily Mail adds that hotel staff were alerted shortly afterward.
Victoria had faced legal challenges in recent years. In April, she was arrested for cocaine possession and was reportedly offered a plea agreement that included substance-abuse treatment. She passed away before her scheduled court appearance.
Following her death, the family released a statement asking for privacy and expressing gratitude for the public’s support. The message was signed by “The Family of Victoria Kafka Jones.”
As news of her passing spread, a past comment made by Tommy Lee Jones about working with his daughter resurfaced. Victoria began acting as a child and appeared in films such as Men in Black II, One Tree Hill, and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, which was directed by her father.
In a 2006 interview with The New Yorker, Jones recalled jokingly that he once “fired” Victoria from the film after she refused to wake up early for a shoot. Despite the anecdote, he praised her professionalism and talent, noting her acting credentials and fluency in Spanish.
Friends and family remember Victoria as warm, funny, and deeply close to her father. Although she later stepped away from acting, she continued to make occasional public appearances alongside him.
Tommy Lee Jones, 79, also has a son, Austin, 42, from his second marriage to Kimberlea Cloughley.
