The question of what happens after death remains one of humanity’s greatest mysteries, and answers vary widely depending on personal beliefs. Only a small number of people claim to have firsthand experiences to share — and Robert Marshall is one of them.
Marshall described a dramatic event that occurred in 2024, when a near-death incident left him in a coma for three days. During that time, he says he encountered Jesus.
He recounted his story on the Next Level Soul Podcast, insisting that what he experienced wasn’t simply a near-death event — he believes he “actually died.” In his words: “I was dead for three days.”
The medical emergency began in May 2024, when he sought help at an outpatient ER after noticing a “very large, swollen mass” on his neck. He was struggling to breathe, so doctors ran an MRI and blood tests.
Marshall later wrote about the entire ordeal in his book 44 Hours in Heaven. According to him, he went into “code blue” three separate times. He learned afterward that he had been suffering from blood filling his lungs, acute hypoxic respiratory failure, and cardiac arrest.
He claims that during this period, he went to heaven and met Jesus. He described the environment as filled with towering oak trees, vivid flowers, and colors more intense than anything on Earth. He also said he felt an immense sense of peace and love.
Despite being in awe of the experience, he asked Jesus to “send him back” because he could feel the pain his wife was going through.
Marshall says Jesus gave him a message at that moment — right before doctors succeeded in reviving him.
He recalled Jesus saying: “When you first came before me, you asked if you could go back.” Marshall joked, “So he did hear me!” to which host Alex Ferrari responded, “Jesus isn’t hard of hearing.”
Marshall continued, quoting Jesus as saying, “Your brain has been destroyed.” Jesus then added that He could send him back, but with conditions: He would return with a miracle so undeniable that no doctors, nurses, or scientists could dispute that God was responsible.
According to Marshall, Jesus promised to give him “a new brain” and “restore [his] entire memory.”
