Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24. He had just played on Monday, where he scored his first career touchdown during the Monday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cowboys announced his passing on Thursday.

“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the tragic loss of Marshawn Kneeland this morning,” the team stated. “Marshawn was not only a talented player, but a cherished teammate and valued member of our Cowboys family. Our hearts are with his girlfriend Catalina and all of his loved ones.

His agent also confirmed the news on X. The NFL released a statement expressing condolences and support to the Cowboys organization: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Marshawn Kneeland. Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, his family, friends, teammates, and the Cowboys community.”

Originally from Michigan, Kneeland played college football at Western Michigan from 2019 to 2023. He was selected 56th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and appeared in 11 games as a rookie. In the 2025 season, he played in seven games and started three.
