The America’s Got Talent stage had seen it all — singers, dancers, magicians — but never this.
The lights dimmed. A cold hush fell over the audience.
Then, from the shadows, she appeared.
Head tilted. Long, dark hair veiling half her face. A porcelain doll dangling from her hand like a secret she didn’t want to tell.
She didn’t smile. She didn’t speak. She just twitched — a sudden, unnatural jerk that sent a ripple of unease through the theater.
Simon leaned forward, eyebrows raised. Heidi bit her lip. Mel B whispered, “What is happening?”
The girl finally moved toward the judges, her voice soft as broken glass.
“Do you… believe… in spirits?”
She handed Mel B an old photograph of a little girl. “Think of a name,” she murmured.
Mel laughed nervously. “Okay…”
The girl closed her eyes. The doll’s head tilted. The lights flickered.
Then, in an instant — the photograph burst into flames.
Screams filled the room. When the smoke cleared, the same burned photo reappeared — now inside a glass box onstage.
Simon’s jaw tightened. Heidi covered her face. Mel B jumped from her seat, clutching her chest.
The girl looked up, her eyes suddenly wide and hollow.
“She’s… here,” she whispered.
The lights snapped off. A single high-pitched note pierced the air. When the stage lights returned — she was gone.
Only the doll remained. Sitting in her place.
Its head slowly turned toward Mel B… and smiled.
