A community in Scotland is struggling to come to terms with the death of an eight-year-old girl who passed away after becoming unwell “unexpectedly” while riding on a bus. Her passing occurred only one day before her birthday.
The youngster, who has been named as Olivia Grace Edwards, was reportedly boarding a bus in Aberdeen, which is the third-largest city in the nation, at around 8:40 p.m. local time on Saturday, October 25, when she mysteriously got unwell. This information was reported by both the Daily Record and the Daily Mail.
Olivia was transferred to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, where she unfortunately passed away “a short time later,” according to a representative for Police Scotland who spoke to the Daily Mail. Emergency workers were rushed to the parking lot where she was boarding the bus.
In accordance with the statement made by the spokesman, the death of the eight-year-old child is “being treated as unexplained, but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
The girl’s friends have started a GoFundMe campaign in order to assist with the expenditures associated with the funeral.
Under the heading “My Amazing Best Friends have Lost Their Beautiful Baby Girl Unexpectedly Just One Day Before Her 9th Birthday,” the fundraiser website indicates that the tragic event occurred.
“Her parents, sisters, family, and friends are all heartbroken,” the site says. “Her friends and family.” “Olivia was a beautiful, funny, sweet, amazing little girl and is going to be missed so much by all who knew her.”
Donations have been requested by friends in order to “help take some of the stress away” from Olivia’s parents and to “help give this beautiful girl the best sendoff.”
A total of more than £13,000 (about $13,300) of the total target of £16,000 ($21,300) has been raised during the fundraising event.
The GoFundMe page for the family of the eight-year-old child was inundated with words of support from members of the local community.
“I don’t know your family personally, but I am so desperately sorry for your loss, and I am sending your family much love and strength,” according to a single individual.
“Deeply saddened by the heartbreaking loss of beautiful Olivia,” read another tribute, as reported by the Daily Mail. “My sincere condolences to her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”
Another individual was quoted as saying, “Hearing this sad news is just heartbreaking,” as reported by the source. “My thoughts are with you all.”
