According to a statement released by Limp Bizkit, bassist Sam Rivers has passed away. He was 48 years old.
The news that Rivers had passed away earlier in the day was officially announced by the nu metal band in a message that they published on Instagram on Saturday, October 18. They did not disclose the reason for his passing to the group.
“Our brother passed away for us today. The other member of our band. The band stated in the caption, “Our heartbeat,” which was placed next to a picture of Rivers playing onstage before the camera.
“Sam Rivers was more than simply our bass player; he was extraordinary in every way. “The rhythm that lies beneath each and every song, the serenity that lies within the mayhem, and the spirit that resides within the sound,” the band concluded. Beginning with the very first note that we ever performed together, Sam provided a brightness and a rhythm that could never be replicated by anybody else. It was straightforward to recognize his brilliance, his presence was indelible, and his heart was tremendous.
“We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every single one of them meant more because Sam was there,” the members of Limp Bizkit added. “We shared so many moments.” This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a human being. A genuine hero among all tales. Furthermore, his spirit will continue to live on in every groove, every stage, and every memory forever.
All of us adore you, Sam. Always and forever, we will carry you with us. Brother, you may relax now. The post came to a close with a signature from the band’s frontman Fred Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland, and turntablist DJ Lethal. “Your music never ends,” the post said.
In the comment section that was located underneath the post, Lethal expressed his desire for the fans of the band “Break Stuff” to show respect for Rivers’ family’s right to privacy.
“Give Sam his flowers and play Sam Rivers basslines all day!” the DJ wrote in his diary. “We are in a state of shock. My brother, may you rest in peace! You will be remembered via the music you created and the people whose lives you saved through your friendships, charitable activities, and musical endeavors. Our hearts are devastated 💔. savor each and every instant of your existence. It is not a given situation.
During his time working in retail, Rivers became friends with Durst, which led to his participation in Limp Bizkit as a founding member. Prior to the formation of their long-running nu-metal outfit in 1994, the two musicians were members of the band Malachi Sage, which they performed with.
Limp Bizkit, a band that eventually became one of the most influential bands of the late 1990s and early 2000s, is best known for songs such as “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Take a Look Around.”
