alumni of the show “So You Think You Can Dance” Joshua Allen has passed away. He was age 36.

PEOPLE was informed by a representative of Allen that the report was accurate. The first news outlet to report on the event was TMZ.

Allen, who had won the fourth season of the Fox reality program, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, according to a member of his family who spoke to the publication. According to the publication, Allen’s family has requested that fans have “privacy and prayers” for them. The member of the family chose not to disclose the manner in which Allen passed away.

The actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner passed away at the age of 54 after drowning while on vacation with his family in Costa Rica. Allen paid respect to the actor in his last Instagram post, which was published on July 21. In the post, Allen posted a picture of himself with Warner, who had passed away.

The caption that Allen used for the post said, “Fly high, King 🤴🏾🕊️💔 #gonetoosoon.”

To express his grief at Allen’s demise, Emmanuel Hurd, a choreographer and friend of Allen’s, posted the following message on Instagram: “Can’t put my brain around this… He’s my brotha, Josh. Because there are no words. It was impossible to miss you during the gathering. That was Batman, you. The champion. One of the most genuine individuals I have ever encountered. Maintaining a stack at all times and being willing to make amends in the event that you went short. “A true monarch.”

This one is quite painful. The knowledge that you are now with Stephen is a source of solace for me. Brother, I adore you. The phrase “IVEVER🦭👑” In the last paragraph of the essay, Hurd made a reference to the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who had committed himself at the age of forty in December of 2022.

Allen passed away on Monday, September 29, according to a post that Hurd made on Instagram.

According to Hurd, Allen is a “very honest, real person.” TMZ reported this.

“He didn’t always do things the way that everybody thought he should, but that’s why he was a winner,” Hurd concluded his remarks.

Allen, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, rose to the top of the fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance in 2008, when he was just 18 years old. Boss finished in second place, behind Allen, and both of them went on to become All-Stars in the future.

After achieving success on the dance program, Allen went on to feature in the films Step Up 3D (2010), Footloose: Remake (2011), and an episode of American Horror Story (2011).

After entering a plea of no contest to the charge of domestic abuse in 2017, Allen was given a sentence of one year in county-level detention. During that same period, the Los Angeles Daily News reported that he was also given a sentence that included five years of formal probation and fifty-two weeks of therapy for domestic abuse. He was ordered to avoid the victim, who was his ex-girlfriend, for a period of ten years, according to the prosecutors who spoke to the publication.
