Melania Trump has largely kept a low profile during her husband’s second presidential term. However, she has faced criticism in the past—such as over her cryptocurrency project—and now she’s under fire once again.
This time, the backlash comes after the former first lady introduced a new line of American landmark–themed Christmas ornaments.
Last week, Melania unveiled her “Celebrating America” collection, a series of limited-edition, handcrafted ornaments. The designs highlight iconic U.S. landmarks—the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and Mount Rushmore—as well as three patriotic-themed pieces. Each ornament bears Melania Trump’s signature, and customers can also purchase an accompanying “unique digital collectible.”
“I am excited to continue this annual holiday tradition with the Celebrating America collection,” she said in a statement. “This year, I drew inspiration from our Nation’s upcoming 250th birthday, along with all the blessings we share as Americans during the holiday season.”
Backlash Over Pricing and Motives
The ornaments are priced between $75 and $90 individually, or $465 for the full set of six. On social media, however, many users were quick to criticize the launch.
“More grifting,” one person commented on X.
“Griftiest, grifting couple ever,” another added.
“Money is their ‘god,’” a third wrote, while someone else called her “a grifter who doesn’t even live in the White House.”
