Fame often comes with perks — wealth, glamorous events, and access to high society — but it also brings harsh judgment and constant scrutiny. Few know this better than Paris Hilton, who has spent her life in the public eye.
Recently, however, the criticism turned personal when internet trolls targeted her baby boy’s appearance. In 2023, Paris — now a businesswoman as well as a reality TV icon — felt compelled to defend her 9-month-old son, Phoenix Barron, after cruel remarks about his head size began circulating on her social media.
Paris and her husband, Carter Reum, welcomed Phoenix via surrogate, marking their first child together (though Carter also has a daughter, Evie, from a prior relationship). Like many new parents, the couple has been embracing the joys and challenges of raising their son.
During a trip to New York, Paris shared a photo holding Phoenix, only to be met with nasty comments in the replies. Trolls mocked the baby with jabs like, “Man got a lot of thoughts up there” and, “I heard this baby was created in a lab. And she didn’t carry it.”
Paris quickly shut down the negativity, writing:
“There are some sick people in this world. My angel is perfectly healthy. And yes, of course he has been to a doctor, he just has a large brain.”
She also opened up about her strong support system:
“My parents are so obsessed with him. I’m always calling my mom and my sister Nicky for advice. I feel really lucky to be so close to my family — I have such a big support group.”
The incident is a stark reminder that even celebrities’ children are not spared from online cruelty. But Paris’ strong response highlighted both her fierce love for Phoenix and her refusal to let trolls diminish her joy in motherhood.
