Mel Gibson, the legendary Hollywood actor known for blockbuster films like Braveheart and Conspiracy Theory, has nine children — and one of them, Milo Gibson, is carving out his own path in the film industry. At 32, Milo not only shares his father’s rugged looks but is also beginning to make waves as an actor in his own right.

Though Milo has acted in several films — some alongside his famous dad — his journey to Hollywood wasn’t immediate. In fact, he once pursued an entirely different life.

A Hollywood Icon with a Big Family
Mel Gibson, born in New York in 1956, rose to fame after moving to Australia with his family. His breakout role came in Mad Max (1979), which launched a long and varied career, including directing acclaimed films like Braveheart (1995), which won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Despite his busy career as an actor and director, Mel raised a large family. While some of his children have stayed out of the spotlight, Milo has chosen to step into it.

A Normal Childhood Despite Fame
Milo Gibson was born in Australia in 1990, but his family moved to Malibu, California, when he was just three. Though his dad was a huge star, Milo says his parents kept life grounded. “It wasn’t a showbiz childhood,” he said. “They wanted us to have a normal upbringing.”

Milo spent his youth surfing, playing football, and meeting the occasional celebrity — like Robert Downey Jr., who was known for being surprisingly down-to-earth during video game battles.

He didn’t realize the extent of his dad’s fame until he was older. He even visited the set of Braveheart at a young age and remembers walking into a scene filled with hanging dummies before Mel quickly ushered him out.

From Electrician to Actor
Initially, Milo had no plans to act. He worked as a massage therapist and electrician before finding his passion in front of the camera.

“I always loved working with real people,” he said, explaining why he initially avoided acting. But his father’s advice — to follow his passions — eventually led him to the family business.

He got his big break in Hacksaw Ridge (2016), directed by Mel Gibson, where he played a small role. The experience cemented his desire to pursue acting full-time. Since then, he’s landed leading roles in films like All the Devil’s Men (2018), and appeared in The Tribes of Palos Verdes (2017) and Breaking & Exiting (2018).

Looks Just Like Dad
With his striking features, including piercing eyes and thick hair, Milo is often mistaken for his father. “People sometimes tell me, ‘Hey, you look like Mel Gibson!’ And I say, ‘I wish!’” he joked.

Despite the resemblance, Milo is committed to building his own path in Hollywood. He’s even tried modeling — but acting remains his true passion.

A Bright Future Ahead
Milo Gibson’s career is still young, but his performances so far show promise. He’s taken on a variety of roles and is backed by his parents’ support — though never pushed into the spotlight.

It’s clear that Milo is doing things his own way, just as Mel did decades ago. We wish the best for both father and son as Milo continues to rise in the film world.
