Eileen Fulton, the actress renowned for her portrayal of Lisa Grimaldi on “As the World Turns,” has passed away at the age of 91.

Fulton died on Monday, July 14, in Asheville, North Carolina, after a decline in health, as stated in an obituary released by Groce Funeral Home.

Following her studies in theater and music at Greensboro College, she relocated to New York City in 1956. Her breakthrough occurred in 1960 with her appearance in the film “Girl of the Night.”

In the same year, she secured the part that would define her career—Lisa Grimaldi on “As the World Turns.” Initially conceived as a temporary character, Lisa evolved into one of the most enduring and emblematic personas in soap opera history, with Fulton embodying her for five decades until the show’s conclusion in 2010.

Besides her soap opera notoriety, Fulton performed on Broadway in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and featured in the spin-off “Our Private World.” In 1991, she was awarded a Soap Opera Digest Award and got a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2004 Daytime Emmys.
