Maurene Comey was not the alone member of the Comey family to have a challenging week. Her father, James Comey, may be subject to criminal prosecution related to the 2016 Russiagate affair.
On Friday, Director of National evidence Tulsi Gabbard released a significant report stating that the Obama administration distorted evidence about Russian intervention in the 2016 election.
Gabbard vehemently criticized former Obama officials, alleging their involvement in a “treasonous conspiracy,” and said that her office was submitting information to the DOJ for potential criminal referrals.
She is referencing many individuals who had prominent positions in government during that period, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former FBI Director James Comey.
Gabbard said that she was submitting the extensive information gathered to the DOJ “to ensure the accountability that President Trump, his family, and the American populace merit.”
A significant number of individuals expressed outrage online, resulting in the hashtag #arrestObama trending on X—this is not the first instance of such a demand from internet trolls, to be honest.
The news was received with suspicion by others, since it coincides with the Trump Administration facing criticism for its management of the purported Epstein files.
Maurene is now outside the federal government, since the Justice Department dismissed her after she and her associates failed to get a jury conviction against Diddy on accusations of sex trafficking and racketeering.
