Both the music supervisor for American Idol and her husband were killed in a shooting that took place at their home in Los Angeles.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, the Los Angeles Police Department informed PEOPLE that it carried out a welfare check at the couple’s house on White Oak Avenue in Encino, which is valued at $4.5 million. It was discovered that the couple, both of whom were 70 years old, had sustained several gunshot wounds to the head inside the apartment. When first responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived, they determined that the individuals had passed away at the site.

Robin Kaye, who was a music supervisor for the legendary singing program, and Thomas Deluca, a musician, were identified as the dead by the Los Angeles Police Department. According to reports, they were discovered in different rooms inside the house.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Raymond Boodarian, who is 22 years old and lives in Encino, has been taken into custody in connection with the deaths. In the course of a conflict that ultimately resulted in the victim’s death, the couple is said to have walked in on the suspect inside their house.

The deaths, according to the police, seem to be random, and there is presently no known relationship between the culprit and the victims.

Kaye, a veteran of music reality shows, made her debut in the music department of American Idol in the capacity of a producer between the years 2002 and 2023. Her other work as a music supervisor includes contributions to the films Lip Sync Battle, After the Sunset, The Singing Bee, and Q’Viva! : The Chosen, among others. In addition to that, she participated in a number of Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

On July 10, only four days earlier, at around four o’clock in the afternoon, police were called to the same residence in response to a probable burglary. It is now believed by detectives that the suspect entered via a door that was not locked, despite the fact that there were no obvious traces of forced entry at the time.

“A confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives,” the officials said. “The victims returned home while the suspect had gained entry into the residence,” the authorities added. Multiple gunshot wounds ultimately proved fatal for the victims, while the suspect made his escape from the apartment on foot.

KTLA talked with neighbors, who allegedly said that there was an attempt to get into the same residence on July 10, which was a few days before the victims were discovered.

Amee Faggen, a lady, made the following statement to KTLA: “My renter saw someone hopping the fence back on Thursday, and she called 911 right away.” However, we have not received any information after that time, so we are unable to determine whether or not it is even connected to the situation.

The American Idol organization has expressed its “devastation to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing,” according to a spokeswoman for the organization.

“Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her,” according to the official statement. “Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
