A guy is speaking out about his persistent search for his parents after the floodwaters that raced across central Texas took away their cabin. The floods were caused by the flooding that occurred in the area.
When Robert Brake Jr. informed ABC News that his parents, Robert Leroy Brake Sr. and Joni Kay Brake, had not been heard from since their cabin at the HTR campground in Kerrville was damaged by the floods on Friday, July 4, they said that they have not been able to contact them since then.
The pair is one among the more than 160 persons who have not yet been found after the flash floods; an additional 119 people have been verified to have passed away as a result of the flooding conditions.
“My folks got washed away in their cabin,” Robert Jr. said in an interview with ABC News.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, July 8, authorities from the state of Texas reported that more over 160 persons had not yet been located after the natural disaster on the previous day.
A Christian ladies’ camp called Camp Mystic, which is situated in Texas Hill Country near the Guadalupe River, was one of the regions that was impacted the worst by the disaster. The camp has already acknowledged that 27 girls and counselors were lost as a result of the flooding that occurred in the cabins.

During an interview with the ABC station WFAA on Monday, July 7, Ryen Brake, who is one of Robert Sr. and Jon’s grandsons, revealed that his grandparents were in Kerr County for the very first time when the floods occurred since they were there for the first time.
Ryen claims that they were in town to pay their son and his wife a visit and spend some quality time together. According to him, “Unfortunately, I don’t think that the Fourth of July will continue to be a favorite holiday for our family,” and he went on to say that this would no longer be the case.
What about Robert Jr.? He has high expectations that he will still be able to make a difference in the world, even if he is unable to locate his parents.
“We came down to help,” he told ABC News, expressing his hope that via his efforts, he may be able to assist others in locating their loved ones and “have some closure and peace.”
Within the context of a separate interview with David Muir, Robert Jr. disclosed the one message that he would want to convey to his parents if he had the ability to do so. I want to express my gratitude to you for being such wonderful parents. I am grateful to you for bringing up such wonderful children and for instilling morals and ethics in us.
