Authorities said that a 12-year-old child from Ohio has been located safe three days after his disappearance.
On the afternoon of Friday, July 4, Cameron Jones was located at Crawford Woods Park in Hamilton, the same site from where he was reported missing, as confirmed by Chief John Adams of Ohio LandSAR Search and Rescue to PEOPLE.
The boy was located in a thickly wooded location when Adams’ crew encountered him, he claims.
“He merely leaped out,” states Adams. “We seemingly startled him, I suppose.”
The youngster was in satisfactory condition and was promptly transferred to his parents’ residence by the local sheriff’s department.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office did not promptly reply to PEOPLE’s inquiry for comment. The youngster has been unaccounted for since Tuesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. local time, when he departed from his residence, according to authorities. At that moment, he informed his mother that he was going to Crawford Woods Park, a 54-acre public park located behind his residence, as reported by FOX station WXIX.
However, Jones did not return. The family, expressing concern, filed a missing persons report, prompting an investigation into the disappearance by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, as reported by the site.
On the evening of Wednesday, July 2, Jones’ family contacted Ohio LandSAR, Adams informs PEOPLE. The search and rescue squad is composed solely of volunteers and is located at Mount Carmel.
