Rock singer David Roach is in a critical battle for his life following a diagnosis of an aggressive cancer that has now spread to his head, neck, and throat.

Roach, 62, is the longtime frontman of the Los Angeles rock band Junkyard and has led the group for over 30 years. Now, he’s facing a devastating health crisis, receiving constant medical care as his condition worsens due to squamous cell carcinoma.

Earlier this year, Junkyard shared an emotional message on Instagram, revealing Roach’s cancer diagnosis and calling for support. “David is more than just our incredible lead singer — he’s our friend, our inspiration, and a true fighter,” they wrote, as reported by the Daily Mail.

However, his condition has deteriorated. In a June 24 update, Roach and his fiancée Jennifer shared that a persistent fever and cough led to a hospital visit — and heartbreaking news. “The test results crushed us,” they said. “We’re overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty.”

Despite the grim outlook, Roach continues to show strength and even humor in the face of his illness. “He’s incredibly resilient,” the post said. “Even in this dark time, David’s spirit and humor shine through.”

Jennifer has stopped working to care for him full-time, and a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help with medical and living expenses, according to Metro. The fundraiser describes Roach as someone who “makes everyone feel valued” and notes the financial burden they now face. So far, nearly $30,000 of the $35,000 goal has been raised.

“David is in a dire situation,” the page explains. “With no income and rising costs, keeping a roof over his head while fighting cancer has become incredibly difficult.”

To support himself, Roach is also selling his own handcrafted plaque art, and fans are encouraged to donate, purchase merchandise, or spread the word.
