Months after Céline Dion’s last health update, her sister Claudette has shared a heartbreaking new insight into the singer’s ongoing struggle.

The iconic Canadian artist has been battling a rare neurological condition called stiff person syndrome, which severely impacts muscle control and mobility. Céline largely stepped out of the public eye following her diagnosis, and until recently, hadn’t been photographed publicly in over three years.

She first revealed her condition in an emotional video in December 2022, explaining that the muscle spasms she’d been experiencing were the result of this little-known disorder.

Now, her sister Claudette has revealed that Céline no longer has control over her muscles. Speaking to *7 Jours* (via *Daily Mail*), Claudette shared her heartbreak: “She’s working hard, but she doesn’t have control over her muscles. What breaks my heart is that she’s always been so disciplined.”

Claudette emphasized how determined and hardworking Céline has always been, but admitted that the disorder is taking a toll. Stiff person syndrome is a rare, incurable condition where the body attacks its own nerve cells, leading to painful muscle spasms and loss of mobility.

“Her dream—our dream—is for her to return to the stage,” Claudette said. “In what form, we don’t know.”

Because the condition affects only about one in a million people, there’s limited medical research, which slows the path to treatment. “The vocal cords are muscles. The heart is a muscle,” Claudette added. “That’s what really worries me.”

Despite the uncertainty, Céline continues to receive overwhelming support from fans. Through the family’s charity, Fondation Maman Dion, Claudette says they’ve received countless messages of love, prayers, and gifts.

Stiff person syndrome can lead to extreme stiffness, spasms, and even fractures, sometimes making it difficult to walk or speak. While rumors have circulated online about Céline being confined to a wheelchair or battling other illnesses like cancer, Claudette firmly denied them, saying, “Why do they invent things like that?”

Even in the face of immense challenges, Céline remains mentally strong and hopeful. “She’s not depressed. She still has that joy for life,” Claudette confirmed. Céline is currently following a specialized treatment plan with medical professionals in Denver, and her goal remains clear: she’s still hoping to return to the stage.
