Following a battle with colon cancer that lasted for five years, Tanner Martin has passed away. He was thirty years old.
The death of the influential person occurred forty-one days after he had his first child, a girl, with his wife Shay Wright. It was with his wife that he started chronicling his diagnosis of colorectal cancer in November 2020, when he was 25 years old.
In an Instagram post that was uploaded on Wednesday, June 25, Wright revealed the devastating information to his followers. The announcement that Tanner had passed away was made in a video that had been manufactured and included him speaking straight to the camera.
“Hey, it’s me, Tanner, if you’re watching this, I am dead,” he said to everyone.
I had a hell of a life,” she said. I watched someone do that about a year ago, and I thought it would be a nice chance to get all of your ideas out,” he added, adding that he wanted to be thinking about what Wright might need during this time. “I chose to do this video announcing my death because I saw someone do it.”
On the other hand, you guys, life was amazing. It was a wonderful experience for me when I was here,” he went on to say. “I have faith that there is something that comes after this,” she said. I can’t wait to get to know those individuals, and there’s a good chance that we’ll be hanging out together and making fun of all of you geeks.
After that, he went on to mention members of his family who had died away, stating, “There are just a lot of people that for the afterlife, I’m excited to see them, and excited to see them not in pain and just happy.”
“I don’t know, I’m like, death is scary, but it’s also like a new adventure, you know,” he said in an honest manner. “I’m excited to see what the experience is like, and hopefully it’s good.”
As he proceeded, he expressed his gratitude to everyone for their support. “But I love you guys, and seriously, thanks again for all your support and helping to make the last years of my life here on earth like fun and enjoyable and helping me be comfortable.”
What Shay captioned the video was, “May the force be with you from our angel force ghost🤍 see the next video for his wish,” and it was posted on YouTube.
On Wednesday, Wright also published a second message on his Instagram account. It was shown in the video that Martin expressed his last request, which was to assist Wright and their daughter with future financial needs by raising contributions via the website GoFundMe.

Martin and Wright made the announcement that their child had been born on May 15th.
“She’s here,” they captioned a photo that was shared to their Instagram Stories account on their joint account which included a picture of Martin and Wright resting in the hospital bed next to each other while embracing their newborn daughter.
Due to the fact that they began recording Martin’s battle through cancer five years ago, the pair has established a community on social media that is both kind and supportive. Ever since they made the announcement in November 2024 that they were expecting a child, they have often produced videos that include updates on their health as well as information on their kid.
On the 11th of May, Martin divulged information on his current state of health on Instagram, just before to the birth of his younger daughter. He opened the video by saying, “Just thought I’d hop on here and give you guys a quick update,” which is what he said.
As a result of the chemotherapy, I have a really raspy voice, and I sound completely different. On the other hand, I’m doing OK; I’m just exhausted. Could you guess what’s going on? He made a reference to the birth of his daughter by saying, “Guess who arrives in six days,” while selecting two baby slippers made of a smaller size.
“Anyway, that’s what I wanted to share,” he kept going on to say. Tomorrow, I will cease receiving chemotherapy for a week since it will be three weeks on and one week off. there is something I am really thrilled about… anyhow, there is my update. In the last moments of the video, he blew kisses to the camera and said, “Love you.”
An exclusive interview with PEOPLE was conducted with Martin and Wright in November 2024, not long after they made the announcement that they were expecting a child.
After having in vitro fertilization (IVF), they revealed that they were experiencing a mixture of negative emotions, including “grief, fear, and anxiety.” They also discussed the thrill of learning that they were expecting their first child.
Martin said in a previous interview with PEOPLE that he was informed in February 2023 that his disease could no longer be cured. His life expectancy was projected to be between two and five years, according to the medical professionals.
