Kirk Cameron is the latest celebrity to leave California. The *Growing Pains* star announced on Wednesday that he has officially moved out of the state.
Cameron explained that his decision stemmed from witnessing California take a troubling path over time, marked by increasing division.
Now living in Tennessee, the father of six said the move was influenced in part by the fact that three of his adult children already live there, and also by his desire to find a place with a “healthy freedom mindset.”
“If everything falls apart economically or socially, people want to be surrounded by others who value God, family, and country. That’s what makes this place so appealing,” he told the *Washington Examiner*.
He also noted that he’s far from the only transplant from the West Coast. “It’s amazing how many Californians are here,” he said, adding with a laugh, “When I run into them at the grocery store, I say, ‘Don’t California our Tennessee.’”
Following in the footsteps of his sister, Candace Cameron Bure, who also left California citing safety concerns, Cameron feels Tennessee offers a better quality of life—with strong family values and, as he jokingly added, “good whiskey” too.
