Prince Harry and Meghan Markle originally left royal life in 2020 hoping to give their children, Archie and Lilibet, a more private upbringing. For a long time, the couple was very protective about not sharing photos of their kids. However, that appears to have changed recently—especially with Meghan now posting images and videos of them online.
An expert has criticized Meghan for what they view as contradictory behavior. Despite previously guarding their children’s privacy and criticizing social media’s impact on young people, Meghan recently shared a Father’s Day video of Harry and their children on Instagram.
When the Duke and Duchess moved to Montecito, California after leaving the UK, they claimed they wanted a quieter life. But since then, they’ve stayed in the spotlight through interviews, Harry’s memoir, and various media projects. Their children remained largely out of public view until the past year, when their appearances in shared media have increased significantly.
This apparent shift has sparked backlash. Ingrid Seward, a royal commentator and editor of *Majesty Magazine*, told *The Sun* that Meghan’s decision to share personal family moments online seems “hypocritical.” She pointed out that the couple once refused to show their children’s faces and demanded privacy, but are now releasing images publicly—something she believes is more about financial gain than genuine openness.
Meghan and Harry have also spoken out about online dangers for children through their Archewell Foundation. They’ve emphasized how vulnerable kids are in the digital space. Meghan has said, “All you want to do as parents is protect them,” while Harry lamented how easy it is for kids to fall into harmful online content.
Seward questions the consistency between their concerns and their current actions. While she described Meghan’s Father’s Day video as “charming,” she also argued that it undermines the couple’s previous stance. She speculated that Harry might feel uneasy about it, as he has generally been more reserved and less inclined toward self-promotion compared to Meghan.
Though it’s unlikely Meghan would post the video without Harry’s consent, the expert believes it highlights a growing disconnect between the couple’s public messages and their private decisions.
