In the wake of the floods that occurred in West Virginia, a young man who passed away is being remembered for his warmth and generosity.
In the recent flash flood that occurred on Saturday, June 14, and caused major damage to communities in northern West Virginia, Travis Creighton, who was 19 years old, was one of the eight persons who have been verified to have passed away as a result of the storm. In the midst of the state’s preparations for the possibility of further flooding, Travis’ family is paying tribute to him as a loyal brother and a devoted son.
WTRF, a local news site, said that the 19-year-old had just obtained a job at the same company as his father, Brian, and that the two of them had shared rides to work, which they considered to be a treasured time between father and son.
“We held hands all the way to work and just told each other to have a good day, and ‘I’ll see you later,'” Brian thought back on it, and he started to shed tears. “I’m not going to continue to have that after this. It is no longer there.”
In accordance with WV Metro News, Travis, who had been a Boy Scout for his whole life, had just completed the equivalent of high school and got his Eagle Scout Badge.
“Funny, full of life, and had a very big heart,” Shelby, Travis’ sister, stated in an interview with ABC News. She also said that her younger brother had it all. According to her, one of his most admirable qualities was his capacity for interpreting nature.
“He passed away much too soon,” she said. My elder brother or sister is me. It was supposed to be the other way around; they were meant to bury everyone else first.
According to WTRF, Travis and his family were at home watching a movie when a relative phoned to inform them that the stream in the neighborhood was rapidly rising. Brian, Travis’ father, and other members of the family proceeded to transfer their cars to higher ground. However, when Brian attempted to contact his wife Donna, who is Travis’ mother, the phone went straight to voicemail, and he realized that something was amiss.
After further investigation, Brian learned that the foundation of their family home had split, causing it to collapse. Inside the house were Donna, Travis, and their three dogs.

In the end, they found themselves in the stream, desperately clinging to one another. They went their own ways and then came back together again, and when they were separated for the final time, Travis shouted, “Swim, Mommy!” ” Go for a swim!” Afterwards, when Brian was in the hospital, his wife informed him of the situation.
The next thing that Brian said was, “She’s got some cuts and bruises, but she didn’t break anything whatsoever.” “As I’ve said before, I have a strong faith in miracles. And that was our Travis assisting her in those ways.
Shelby posted on a GoFundMe page that was created to support Travis’s parents in their attempts to restore their home and provide a dignified funeral for their son. She said that their family “lost everything that day,” but that they are “holding onto each other” through their loss.
“Travis was only 19, but his heart was bigger than most people twice his age,” Shelby wrote in his journal. There was no question in his mind that he would have given the shirt from his back to a complete stranger. It had the type of soul that could brighten a room just by being there, and he was cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
