Carberry, Manitoba – January 16, 2025 – A tragic collision in Manitoba on Thursday resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people. The incident took place near the town of Carberry, roughly 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg, when a bus transporting elderly passengers to a casino crashed into a truck at an intersection.

According to Rob Hill, the commanding officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.” An additional ten people sustained injuries and are currently being treated in hospital.

Both the bus and truck drivers survived, though authorities have not yet released information regarding who was at fault. Photos from the crash site revealed damaged wheelchair seats and walking aids strewn near tarps that covered the victims.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences, expressing support for the families affected and those injured. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also shared her heartfelt sympathies following the devastating event.
