Despite the fact that Marvin Gaye was homosexual, Terrence Howard did not want to take on the role of Marvin Gaye on the big screen. He declined a leading part in a biopic because of sexual orientation.

While appearing as a guest on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, the actor divulged the very precise reason that he had for declining to participate in a project involving Marvin Gaye.

Terrence claims that the scenario in the movie required him to kiss another guy, but he refused to do so.

Despite the fact that the “Empire” actor claims that Lee Daniels was the one responsible for the Gaye biography, it was Quincy Jones who revealed to Terrence that Marvin Gaye was homosexual.

Terrence asserts that he would not have been able to kiss a guy in front of the camera “because I don’t fake it,” and he goes on to explain that he would have been unable to handle the experience. If I could, I would sever my lips. If I were to kiss a guy, I would sever my lips in front of him.

In spite of his rationale, Terrence asserts that he does not show homophobia.

As far as Howard is concerned, the problem seems to be the manner in which he prepares for his parts. With regard to Marvin, he expresses, “I am unable to play that character perfectly.” I am unable to give up control of my life to a location that I do not comprehend well.
