Peter Doocy and Hillary Vaughn Welcome Their Second Child, Son George Jack Doocy**
Fox News correspondents Peter Doocy and Hillary Vaughn have expanded their family! The couple welcomed their second child, a son named George Jack Doocy, on Wednesday, April 16, in Washington, D.C., and shared the happy news with PEOPLE.
Vaughn, 35, revealed that she was covering a story about the IRS on Capitol Hill for Tax Day when she attended a routine prenatal appointment — only to find out that George was ready to make his arrival.
“Maybe he was tired of hearing about taxes — I can’t blame him!” joked Vaughn, who reports for Fox Business.
After enduring 30 hours of labor, George was born. Vaughn humorously added, “I’m grateful Peter got our taxes done early this year!”
The new mom shared her excitement about becoming a “boy mom” and acknowledged the steep learning curve, saying, “Never let your guard down during diaper changes, or you might get baptized!”
George’s big sister, 2-year-old Bridget, was thrilled to meet her baby brother. Vaughn shared how special it was to see Bridget welcome George, emphasizing that growing their family means creating lifelong bonds for their children. “As we add another heartbeat to our home, our hearts are overflowing with love,” she said.
Peter, 37, also expressed his joy, mentioning that Bridget was the one who almost correctly guessed when George would be born. She was also the first to sing “Happy Birthday” to him at the hospital.
Peter pointed out another meaningful detail: George arrived on the couple’s fourth wedding anniversary. “Thanks to you, son, I’ll never forget to pick up a card for Hillary when I’m getting your birthday card,” he joked.
Peter’s father, Steve Doocy, co-host of *Fox & Friends*, shared with PEOPLE that the family had been eagerly awaiting George’s birth. He recalled watching Peter report live from the White House lawn when a bird unexpectedly hit Peter’s head. Steve woke his wife Kathy and quipped, “Was it a stork?” — though he confirmed it wasn’t.
Steve said Peter went home that night, cleaned up after the bird incident, and not long after, Hillary went into labor.
Looking ahead, Steve is excited to embrace his role as a doting grandfather. His Instagram feed is full of heartwarming videos showing the bond between grandparents and grandchildren — scenes he’s eager to recreate.
He joked about future moments with George, saying, “One day, when your parents come home from work, there’s no need to tell them we had pie and ice cream for breakfast… again.”
